Getting Rid of Keycap Shine

Umzipumzi

I own a Corsair K70. I have an issue of my more common used keys getting shinier and less attractive. They're pretty much mirrors at this point. Is there anything I can do to resolve this? I've tried 99% alcohol to no avail. Many thanks!

That's not supposed to do that....

I've had this issue in the past... the solution for me was 2500 grit sandpaper to rough the surface back up.

The projects never end in my line of work.

You can try something a bit more aggressive like acetone to try and melt/re-texture the surface but sandpaper or finer scotch brite pads are a good alternative since it will give a consistent finish every time.

Prevention is better than cure. Buy PBT keycaps

I quite like the look of the keycaps on the K70 as it is, also I want to be able to see my backlighting. And finally, those things cost money, money that I would rather spend elsewhere.

That's not supposed to do that....
