Dell optiplex 755 upgrade for gaming

Go to solution Solved by morbidangel666,

The psu is a coolermaster elite it came with the pc. The guy I bought it from ran a hd 6570 on the machine.

Hi everyone I am new to this forum and do not have very much knowledge about hardware when I open the pic case.

I have a dell optilex 755 with q6600, 4gb ddr2, 500gb sata 400w psu (not dell's). I want to upgrade my pc for gaming and I am looking to play gta v and bf4 level games. I want to ask if r7 250x is compatible with my pc or not and whether I can replace those ddr2 with ddr3 sticks or should I get a dell t3400 q6600 4gb ddr2 for 120$.

Right now I have only 130$ that I can spend on either buying a new pc and wait for gpu or upgrade this pc with r7 250x? I would love to hear if I can install r7 250x in my 755 optiplex.

First off, you need to tell us if its the SFF one or the mini-tower. Second, just save up and upgrade for a totally new system...

These are not the replies I expected, I am an 18 years old guy who live in a third world country with 20$/month pocket money so I have no choice except these or I should quit pc gaming.

You will need more ram for BF4 and I assume GTA V too. DDR2 and DDR3 aren't compatilbe with each other so try to find 4x2gb sticks of DDR2 ram (assuming mobo has 4 slots). Also you may need to upgrade PSU for the GPU. 400W is kinda low amount and its some noname OEM thing.
