ethernet switch and cables

Go to solution Solved by minibois,

will a ethernet connector splitter " http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA74G2RC6307&cm_re=ethernet_splitter-_-0XM-004M-00003-_-Product" with 2 new cables be just fine for my pc and xbox one, or is investing in a unmanaged switch and new cables? i do plan on replacing my 5 year old ethernet cable already, and if a unmanaged switch is the way to go, my price range for a switch would be around 40.

I would personally invest in a gigabit switch.

Those are reliable and you have some extra ports that you can use for other devices.

I use this and it is really good (no complaints):

You can possibly get it cheaper somewhere else,  I think I paid 22 euros for it.

Just be sure it's a Gigabit switch.
