So I am looking at potentially upgrading my CPU, but I'm not sure if I should or what to go to if i decide to upgrade.

SPECS:
CPU - AMD A8-7600

  Running around 1V

  Package - Socket FM2+(906)

Caches

  L1 D - 16KB

  L1 I - 96KB
  L2 - 2048KB

Motherboard

  Lenovo Banrty CRB

  Chipset - AMD K15 IMC
  Soutbridge - AMD !78 FCH

  BIOS - Lenovo IRKT38AUS

RAM

  12GB DDR; 3 chips; 1 slot open; dual channels
  Micron Tech brand

Graphics
 AMD Radeon R7 series / HD 9000 series - 2gb total

PSU is rated for 450 Watts

Depends on the use.

If only gaming and light editing, rendering: 4690k

If gaming and heavy editing, rendering: 4790k

Well if you want to get a significant upgrade you're going to have to get a new motherboard, such as an Asus Z97-A paired with an i5-4690k; as the socket your current motherboard uses won't be compatible with anything other than socket FM2+ CPUs.

 

Unfortunately, their isn't much left to upgrade to on the socket FM2+ line.

Keep in mind that with upgrading cpus, you're also switching to a different motherboard.

Not necessarily.

You do not have to switch motherboard just to upgrade a cpu.

I think I'll be fine then; i'm getting 60+ fps on most of my games which is plenty for me.
