Hi all!

I am helping a friend planning and eventually building his first PC. He wants to go big from the start and plans on buying a 4K TV in the near future.

It would be mainly for gaming on games such as World of Tanks, Company of Heroes, BF4, Planetside 2, Battlefront, ect...

I have done a preliminary build plan but I only did the research for a more standard ultra graphics 1080p air cooled when I built my own PC a year ago so I would like to hear your suggestions and improvements in ensuring this build would handle 4K and being relatively future proof.

a couple things:

1. PlanetSide 2 is very CPU intensive, so i recommend the 4790k Devils Canyon

2. Radeon is better at higher resolutions, so 2 R9 295X2s will do better at higher resolutions

Different PCPartPickers for different countries:

Well, with an i7, GTX 1080, Full tower and flashy lights, it can obviously only be for one thing:

Solitaire.

In theory 2 R9 295X2s would do better but they have a lot of problems since you're running 4 GPUs in crossfire

Don't get two R9 295X2's as 4 way scaling would be like hell.

An AMD cpu has no place in a solely gaming build, end of.

I3 4150, Intel HD graphics, corsair CX750M, 4gb ram, Asus H81M-E, corsair 230T, Intel stock cooler WD Green 2TB Gigabyte 550TI

I presume he's using a 4K TV instead of something along the lines of an IPS monitor. In that case, why's that?

Also, no motherboard?

The latest generation cpu comparable to the i7-3770K is the i7-4790K.

When buying two memory sticks it is better to buy a dual channel kit as that guarantees dual channel memory operation. When buying unmatched memory modules there is a small chance that they will not operate in dual channel mode.

The latest generation of Samsung ssd is 850. The performance difference between Pro and Evo models would not be noticeable in a gaming system.

Thank you all for you good advices, yes it will be to be used along a 4K TV. He is a gamer, but more of lounge gamer with a controller. I know, even in my eyes this is sacrilegious but that is what he wants to go for and eventually I will probably manage to convert him to use more a keyboard and mouse once he's tried my set up.

In that case, the system seems like much overkill. Does he just have money to blow or something?
