Hello I'm kind of new in the planning and building, never done one so this will be my first.

I will use this for school (I'm an architecture student) so I will be doing some rendering, CAD's, etc. but I would also like to use it for some gaming (Never really done it but looking forward to).

I been doing some research and I this is what I'm thinking:

CPU: i7 4790k (don't know if i7 or i5 is what I need)
GPU: GTX 960
Mobo: MSI Z97
RAM: 8GB
HDD: 1TB
PS: Antec HCG-620 M

I will also need to buy some peripherals:

-1 Monitor (preferably wall mounted)
- Keyboard (nothing fancy)
- Windows License

Im trying to stay around the $1000 USD (≈ $1,200 CAD), and I would buy  everything from eaither amazon or newegg.

Thanks in advance!

Rendering will be faster if you go i7. You could also go AMD for that but nobody will recommend them here because the intels are better for single threaded workloads.

I cannot be held responsible for any bad advice given.

I've no idea why the world is afraid of 3D-printed guns when clearly 3D-printed crossbows would be more practical for now.

My rig: The StealthRay. Plans for a newer, better version of its mufflers are already being made.

You should be getting a i7 for such a work load. If you don't plan on overclocking, I'd recommend you get a 4790 or xeon equivalent and use the money you saved to get a better GPU.

So you're shopping in Canada?

What's the scale of your average project?

Why a wall-mounted display?

I live in mexico so I will be buying from US

I have been doing from residential up to mixed use so it ranges from small to big

Wall mounted so I can be working on my desk with other thing without the display getting in the way, but it's not necessary.

Can you give any examples of the work? That's still a bit less specific than I was looking for.

What desk do you have? A desk-clamping stand might be a more flexible option.
