Hey everyone,

I've got a GTX 570 right now and I want to upgrade to a 770 or even a 780.

Now the thing is, I'm only fine to spend that much money on a 780 if I can be more or less sure that it will last MUCH longer than a 770, in other words I won't be buying a Maxwell GPU when it comes out, in less than a year.

On the other hand I could buy a 770 and upgrade quite soon after Maxwell comes out if I have to.

What do you think ? Should I bet on the long term with a 780 or short term with 770 ?

Thanks for any help !

Here's a review of the GTX 780. You'll see the 770 in there. You can use this to make up your mind. http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/msi_geforce_gtx_780_gaming_review,1.html

get a 770 with lots of vram and then SLI when the need comes. 780 only has 3gb vram, which is a must for 1080p gaming now, since 2gb isn't cutting it. 780 will get capped soon but 770 can SLI and it's $200 cheaper

Edit: I didn't mean that the 780 cannot SLI, because they both can, I meant that it will get capped with 3gb vram for multi monitor

Source? It also depends on what AA you use.

Proper name is VRAM. Unless it was a typo.

The 770 is the better value card. If you aren't set on Nvidia, the 7970 can be found for significantly cheaper with similar overclocked performance.
