ok so my old cpu died cause there was thermal paste in between the golden pins so i got a new one :l but what i do not understand is i applied the same thermal paste to my gpu aswell but it still ran without any problems ... so i think it was non conductive i bought it for 10 $ its the same thermal paste which comes with evo 212 ! i bought it from a local store as i couldn't get any other ones ... but now when i reapplied it on my new cpu "i applied very less" but it is still leaking a little from the sides i used a tissue to wipe but should i worry ?

It doesn't matter if its leaking. It won't short anything on the motherboard. What do you mean when you applied the paste to the GPU it ran fine? How did you manage to get the thermal paste inside the socket?

well you have to delid it.

Did you put thermal paste under the cpu? because that is the only way it could have got onto the pins on the motherboard...

Nope my cpu died and when i took it out of the socket it was just there >.> some how i think maybe cause i applied to much it went in between golden pins its an amd cpu by the way

I see. Either way, if it shorted out the motherboard then it is most likely conductive, and the reason it did not kill the gpu is because its core is soldered onto the pcb, and there aren't any gold pins to short out...

 

If you put a small amount of it this time, it should be ok, but the only way you can know is by using it...

but my cpu *8350* which was using the same thermal paste died turns out i applied too much tim on it and it went in between golden pins and killed it .... but now i  got a new 8350 and applied the same tim as it is the only one i can find in my local stores >.> but even though i applied very less it is leaking a little from sides of cooler so i am asking is any way to ensure this time it does not go in between the pins somehow ?

Not really, other than taking the heatsink off and checking, or turning on the pc.

 

And the reason the gpu was fine is there are no pins for the thermal paste to get into, and thus even if it was conductive it would not do anything.

 

My only suggestion is look up videos of how people did it for amd sockets, and do the exact same thing, because unless you put more than like a grain of rice, it should not be leaking out the sides...
