  • Don't put things where they shouldn't be. Make sure they line up.

Find reputable sources.

Don't be afraid to ask questions - but try Googling it first. If you can't find an answer you can understand, ask someone who would know. (see: us?)

Make sure things are compatible before purchasing. PCPartPicker is great for this.

  • Don't use too much thermal paste

Learn from other people's experiences

Don't be afraid to ask (just don't create 1000 threads lol)

Most people are willing to help

Don't cheap out on anything, especially the powersupply

PCPartPicker is the best website on earth

That's not supposed to do that....

Just searching with your title on forums will bring several topics discussing this. Plus any build guide videos will be a help. I used really old website with pics when I took apart PC first time (to add ram and later to change mobo&cpu). I might have used same site to reference when building first edition of current gaming rig.

For building: research, research, research and ask a ton of questions. You're probably investing at least $500 and you want to make sure you get your money's worth.

Secondly, take your time. Make sure you have at least 2.5 hours to build your PC so you don't make mistakes.

For fist build, definitely. I built my last PC in an hour :P

Lol my first (and only) pc build was about 2 months ago - it took me nearly 5 hours because I forgot to turn the psu power switch on and I was trying to figure out what was wrong with it.
