worth it?

Go to solution Solved by grayblizzard,

A 4GHz OC is very mild.  Most go at least 4.4GHz with Ivy Bridge and newer CPUs.

ok didnt know 4790 non k can turbo to 4GHz so problem solved

so the clock speed difference is pretty big between the i7 4790 and the (k) model is it worth the extra $40 usd to get the k model if you want to record, play and stream games?

also same debate for the new top tier processers coming out later this year

the K models are overclockable too! - if you are OCing then it will benefit you, if you are not going to overclock, dont bother - you will also need a  Z series board if going for a K CPU

Will you overclock?

Get the K version. WIll you not? Get the regular one.

i dont want that clock speed though and also talking about new gen of cpus too

There is very little difference in clock speed between the xeon and the 4790, and the 4790k would be 80$ more expensive.

We can't tell you anything about skylake until it launches and it gets benchmarked.
