for starters i didnt know where to put this one so im just putting it here:

could you install windows on the Raspberry Pi 2 and stream steam games on to this thing from my desktop?

Nope, but you can get Steam on Linux :P or use limelight or similar

 

not that great an experience - steam are bringing out a $50 stream box later this year

No Windows because it uses an ARM processor instead of an x86 processor, which is needed to run Windows. However, you could still use Linux to stream Steam games.

Windows announced they would give raspberry pi2 owner a free version of windows 10 which runs on arm so.... wrong.

Windows 10 is supposed to have a version for the Raspberry Pi. I formerly has a RBP B model, and plan on picking up a RBP 2 model in the near future (unless there is a newer model by then).

The OP was talking about a full version of Windows like 8.1, although Microsoft are releasing and ARM based version of Windows 10 that will work on ARM it will most likely be similar to Windows CE so... Not wrong!
