You could mod it? just a simple paint job type of thing?/

Exactly what I think I'll do. I don't want a paint that'll make the Graphics card hotter though. Never painted one before.

That won't happen unless you paint the fins. Which is easily avoided with some masking tape ;) just paint the shroud the way you'd like it! Although it does involve take the cooler off, which isn't too hard though :)

Bleigh!  Ever hear of AC series?

Pop the backplate off, take the shroud off the cooler, and paint. While the backplate might have some cooling benefit (minimal), the shroud is just there to contain airflow, and look pretty.

BTW, this will void your warranty.

Don't want to void any warranties. Will taking just the cooler off void the warranty?

Yes. However do you really want to paint your graphics card in it's entirety? Even if you mask everything off, chances are you might get paint on something you didn't intend.

The moment you dismantle your card you void your warranty. as you're doing something to the card that the manufacturer didn't intend. IMO however it's the only way to ensure that no paint lands on the fins.

actually I suppose you could grab some white nail polish, and do it by hand. I'm not sure you could get a nice looking even coat however.

That's true, I would go with the MSI one from Singapore. But it might get damaged in mail. And I don't know what returns are like with a business run by one person.
