I noticed this on my reservoir. It's not a very clear pic I know, camera didn't focus. But the sides of that silver thing are supposed to be, well, silver. I'm not sure if this is rust or something, or if maybe the silver wasn't actually metal, and it's just some paint coming off? Idk it's hard to tell. The water looks crystal clear. I'm just concerned about this and possible other parts of the loop.

I'm using distilled water, and the only thing I put in the loop was a few drops of this: http://www.amazon.com/Petras-Tech-Nuke-Concentrated-Biocide/dp/B008EGYJ54for a biocide. Do I need to add some kind of anti-corrosive? Anyways you guys have any ideas on this?

isnt rust and corrosion the same thing basically? either way i think your only way to find out is to take it apart

Iron rusts.  Every other metal 'corrodes'.

Linux "nerd".  If I helped you please like my post and maybe add me as a friend :)  ^_^!

From that color it looks like it's made of brass, seems the paint on it has completely flaked or come off. What part of the reservoir is that btw?

if you run distilled water you must use ANTI-COROSIVE stuff!

That's only if your loop contains dissimilar metals, if they are very "close" such as brass, copper or nickel they are all very compatible with each other and won't cause heavy galvanic corrosion like aluminum and copper.

and as far as aluminium and copper goes use car-grade anti-freeze

It's the bottom of my reservoir. The water exits through the port in the pic and then down to the pump.

That top part looks like the bitspower logo was there previously, my best guess is the copper sulfate from the PT nuke started to oxidize the brass, since copper sulfate tends to age or discolor brass, are you getting paint chips floating inside of your loop.

Everything else looks fine. That's really freaking dumb maybe I should have never put the PT nuke in there in the first place..........................

Is that the bitzpower z res?

Haha could have just read your sig. Its Nickel plated copper. Drain it disassemble it all pull the blocks apart find the flakes. Than just pull that bit out of the res. I took mine out aswell. Also the inlet tube is plated so watch for it flake.
