Upgrading my computer?

Hey guys, I want to upgrade my graphics card. I was looking at the MSI GTX 960 and I want to know if it's compatible with my system.

 

 

Here are my specs.

 

MB-Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3

 

CPU-  AMD FX-6100 Six-Core Processor  (6 CPUs), ~3.3GHz

 

GPU- AMD Radeon 7700 HD 

 

RAM- 8GB

 

Power- 400 watt

 

 

Please let me know if I can upgrade to this card.

you will need a bigger PSU, go for 600W, also depends on case size.

 

i highly recomend saving and getting an I5, as a better CPU will go further than a better GPU

I agree with @Stardar1 go for a 600w psu such as the corsair cx600m, and go for an i5 such as the i5 4690k, i5 4690, i5 4590, or similar.

Otherwise you'll just end up with the cpu you currently have bottlenecking the GPU in more cpu demanding games.

I5 4690k is same price as the GTX 960, get a new motherboard (Z97) for 100 more.

Definitely get the better CPU like the i5 4460 so you have some money for the mobo or just save up to get a good mobo with the 4690k. THEN go for the GPU upgrade.

Now can I just upgrade the cpu? Or are there any requirements for doing this. Sorry for all the questions not to savy in building computers.

the mobo is the issue

 

it not build to support 8 core FX

 

and upgrade from FX6 to FX8 is not a great upgrade

 

the Intel i5 4460 will run circles around the FX6

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.
