What chipsets and sockets are compatible with FX 6300? I know the AM3+ is, anything else? Let's say you don't want to OC, like on Intel you can get the H sereis chipset, is it the same for AMD?

AFAIK every AM3+ socket motherboards can overclock unlocked multiplier CPU...what you have to look at on AMD side is the quality of the CPU power distribution system on the motherboard...since those CPU's consume a lot of energy the boards must have good and strong power delivery system with good quality mosfets, chockes and multi-phase VRM's that are heatsinked...otherwise you will run into trouble with the motherboard VRM's overheating and the CPU will get trottled down to prevent meltdown.

Many people use cheap ass 4+1 power phase un-heatsinked socket 970 motherboards to overclock the FX-8350 for example...they risk the board VRM vailure and this motherboard meltdown can very well kill the processor as well if it happens...so that's what you have to look for in a nut shell...a strong 6+2 or 8+2 powerphase motherboard with socket 970 for single GPU and socket 990FX for multi-GPU.
