Good keyboard?

Go to solution Solved by brokencross,

If you don't want to pay premium for Filco or Ducky go CMStorm. They're really solid.

So, I've been looking around lately. I had the Razer chroma picked out, then realized it uses cheap imitations of cherry switches. The Corsair K70 isn't any better, with people complaining about burnt out LEDs, and convoluted software. After reviewing my preferences, I'm a big fan of cherry mx browns. I actually wanted to get a Roccat Ryos MK Pro with those switches installed, but it didn't match what my setup would be with its one blue light set. So, know of any good keyboard brands that use browns and I can customize aesthetics-wise to match my future setup?

I'm going to punch your face- IN THE FACE.

Ducky Shine ?

... Life is a game and the checkpoints are your birthday , you will face challenges where you may not get rewarded afterwords but those are the challenges that help you improve yourself . Always live for tomorrow because you may never know when your game will be over ... I'm totally not going insane in anyway , shape or form ... I just have broken English and an open mind ...

Really, any one you like the look of that uses MX blues. You can also get custom key-caps from various websites if you want to spice up it's appearance.

But Filco masterrace.

What do they know of England, who only England know?

I'll check it out. I've heard a lot of good things about ducky shine.

I own a Ducky and a Filco keyboard. Favourite being the Filco, but the Ducky is very close behind, just not as much of a fan of Blue switches as Browns, so it just sits next to me. :D

Oh, I love the sound. I just prefer the feeling of the Browns more. :P

Question about Ducky Shine. Seems like they have no macros? That could be a problem to me considering I want to map some keystrokes that would be considered annoying to one or a different button. One reason I really liked the Roccat Ryos MK Pro was for that reason. It's layout really made a difference. Although I guess I could get used to it.

Yeah, Ducky keyboards are more of the simplistic kind. They have what you need and nothing more. I myself have never seen a reason for macros, but I can understand that not having them after being used to them or needing them can be a little frustrating. Though, you can always find a way to map the num pad keys to macros if you're not in need of a num pad.

True true. Plus, the Proteus core mouse I'm getting should be fine with its shortcuts anyway. I am an avid RTS player though so I guess I'll just figure out how to play without adding macros. xD Meh, I guess I'm just lazy sometimes. For gaming I'm lazy, but for exercise I can't finish without every move. Hahahah. I'm a shame to the gaming community.

Linus seems to like it. And Ive owned 3 Razer keyboards and 5 Razer mice and never had any problems. They are more expensive than other options (and I admit much of that is for looks). But I simply havent found a steelseries, logitech, ducky or corsair that I like better. Corsair has similar quality hardware but the software is where Razer bests them! Additionally, the Chroma is cheaper than that filco http://www.amazon.com/Razer-BlackWidow-Chroma-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B00MTWV0II/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1429653156&sr=1-2&keywords=razer+blackwidow

Linus seems to like everything that is featured on the channel so that's that.

And you can't possibly compare Filco to Razer.

Firstly it uses quality switches and not chinese knock-off ones and the build quality is vastly superior on every level. But then again, that isn't saying much since we're talking about razer.

Razer uses German made Cherry switches. And are you saying that Linus is biased in some way? I am speaking from subjective personal experience. But I find Linus to be very Objective. I have never used a Filco keyboard and thus cannot comment on their quality. But everything that I have ever read, watched or experienced leads me to conclude that Razer is high quality (albeit expensive)

Razer switched to their own switches last year, which are made by Kailh.

It uses Kailh nowadays, which has a disgusting quality control.

And it isn't high quality. Not by a long shot.

It's not on par with corsair (even though corsair caps are made of toilet paper) nor cooler master, much less than filco.

Do you have any objective info to substantiate these claims of quality?

Also, linus did not like this :
