So, I'm writing a short paper this week about google. I wrote one last week....about google. I need to come up with a strategic goal for google, I can't think of anything other than acquiring more small startups with unique and promising idea's.

 

I did a google search, but I was hoping to come up with something more concrete.

Google is run by nerds, for science. If you have a good enough idea they will let you use their super computers for it. They have other motives than profit, check out some of their r&d or scientific collaborations.

For their statigic ideas, you can do how they are using user information to help determine what start ups to buy. Also that they are always working to improve algorithms to increase ad efficiency resulting in a higher value per ad spot and increased revenue.

google is in the business of information

 

they innovate and create all these great things, then give them away for free. They've created an ecosystem where people are dependent upon these tools, and all they ask for in return is a little information.

 

I personally use gmail, google maps, drive, calendar

 

All of these things make my life easier, and I'm happy to trade how and when I use their tools, for access to them.

Also yeah I don't know... The startups thing is good.

Also maybe you can try to say that Google is trying to advance humanity not like Bill Gates is doing by helping the very poor, but by advancing technology.

I need to google that but I am sure it was written somewhere...

what about their investment into robotics like that scary lab that made the 'big dog' combining that with mapping and self driving cars. it seems like they're looking to automate a lot of things

but if you need to pair the paper down to strategic goals what about their old goal of "don't be evil" and how humanitarian their investment into google fibre has been to see that there was a deficiency in what ISP's are doing and filling that hole by doing what they said couldn't be done. google maps being released for free and all the money spent on streetview. its done so much for goodwill while at the same time made them almost untouchable in urban mapping.

Great feedback. The problem is finding sources for certain things, like their unofficial "don't be evil" strategy. Or the "humanitarian" investment into google fiber.

I highly doubt how well that would be received very well.
