Which cpu would be best?

Go to solution Solved by WoodenMarker,

Im sorry man, i dont think im communicating myself to well. Im saying thank you for your suggestion, i have agreed that my original choice was wrong, and now taking your motherboard of choice, i need help finding a corresponding cpu.

4690k is the name of the cpu. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/intel-cpu-bx80646i54690k

Hi, first time here, apologies in advance if im in the wrong section.

Anyway, im hoping to build a computer for the first time and i needed some help choosing a cpu, because to be honest i dont know the differences that well. I have fallen in love with the new sabertooth motherboard

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813132518&cm_re=sabertooth_x99-_-13-132-518-_-Product

and its accepted cpus are a short list

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&IsNodeId=1&N=100007671%20600535697

I think thats all of them, please correct me if im wrong. Id like some help deciding which cpu would be best for me. I use my pc mostly for gaming, watching movies/shows, and browsing the internet (love having lots of tabs open)

Id really appreciate any help, thanks!

Is there a reason why you want an X99 board?

if that is your use case, that motherboard is DEFINITELY NOT FOR YOU!

a 4460-4690k with a much cheaper motherboard will suit, despite the board not being as sexy.

you will save like 700 dollars.

For gaming, I'd suggest looking at the cheaper 1150 platform with a 4690k and z97 board. If you really like the look of the sabertooth board, there are different versions for the platforms: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-motherboard-sabertoothz97mark1

x99 is oriented towards enthusiasts such as content creators who need the extra power.

So you bought the motherboard already..  Is it not too late to cancel/return it?

For gaming, I had already recommended the 4690k. If you're not dead-set on the Sabertooth, there are plenty of much cheaper alternative boards available.

If you want to start a new build, I'd suggest reading the followng: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/3061-build-plan-thread-recommendations-please-read-before-posting/

and posting a new thread in the New Builds and Planning sub-forum.
