so its a new system, Asus maximus vi hero and a i5 4690k with a rm650 psu. when power is flowing to the psu, the motherboard start and reset buttons light up, but not the supreme audio fx line nor the rog lighting. when I pressed the power switch, it wouldn't boot. It will only boot if the rocker on the psu is flipped on and off once.

right after booting, it tells me that my boot hardware is incompatible with the current bios settings and I should update the csm settings.

whenever I connect my old drives, the computer wouldn't boot at all

before this, when I installed all my drives and gpu together, it wouldn't boot and gave me a 00 q code. I have tested the gpu and it is working, ram is working, ssd is working. it boots into Windows on the ssd only after boot override in the bios.

I was planning to do a bios update when I got home from work, but what do you guys think?

Sounds like a MB or PSU issue.  Test the PSU in another system if you have one to spare, Otherwise:

Make sure all cabling is secure and all components are solidly positioned in the board.

Boot the computer w/o any drives and make sure that it boots into the BIOS.

If so, boot into Windows and download the latest BIOS.

Once you have updated the BIOS, reset all settings in the BIOS and make the SSD or whatever you have Windows on the main boot drive.  Make sure you have secure boot enabled and they keys applied, then save your settings.

Uninstall any storage drivers that you may have installed from their CD such as Intel Rapid Storage or Asmedia stuff.  That way we can eliminate that it's a driver problem.

Make sure that you don't have any other drives plugged when you boot into Windows after updating the BIOS.

Make sure it boots into Windows successfully.

If so, then you may plug the other drives in and make sure it boots correctly.  If not, then I would make sure your drives are compatible and then I would RMA the board.

I've been having a lot of problems with the Asus Maximus VII Hero as well, Asus really need to fix the boot issues.

this sounds like a power supply prob

if the mobo receives power and able to start for a while it not really a PSU issue

is more of the mobo or the BIOS is nuts

seems many ROG boards are plagued by the 00 error and then other error related to booting

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

some of the things he said...to me suggest a psu issue..and its a simpler thing to replace then the motherboard

but yes..it could be the board as well
