3d accelerator confusion?!?!?!?

So currently I'm running a terrible S3 Virge DX. and I can hardly get 4 FPS in Carmegedon II. Even running at 640x480 it's still choppy as hell. I'm wondering if an upgrade to a voodoo 3 3000 will make a huge difference. I dream someday that I could run all my games at 1024x768 in 8 bits per channel colour... wft is Glide anyway? I prefer open standards. 3dfx can go fuck themselves with their proprietary bullshit.

Also are 3dfx products y2k compatible? or is that a software thing only. Truthfully I don't see what the big deal is and I assume its a giant marketing ploy. I'm worried that the clock in my computer will turn back to 1901 and my transistors with regress into vacuum tubes.

Oh shit, mom has to use the phone. later guys, gotta sign off.

Not sure I get what you're talking bout.

Is this stuff REALLY old or really advanced?

3DFX is an old company that does not exist anymore. I'm leaning towards trolling.

It's a question that's been sitting in my head for 17 years, but finally there is a forum where I can find the answer!!!! but seriously... It was a bit more fun when there was more than one and a half companies to choose from for gfx cards. If AMD does die... and there only NVidia remains. it will be up to intel to make things fun.... and we all know how fun intel is...
