Help picking a CPU

Go to solution Solved by SeanAngelo,

i'd say a 4690k if you can stretch your budget that far.

EDIT: just searched up but your motherboard is H97 right? if you wanna overclock then i suggest you get a Z97 motherboard.

Hi guys,

I am building a new gaming rig, and I'm having a little trouble choosing the CPU. I want a 'Bang-for-the-Buck' CPU, preferably Intel (I know I shouldn't shop by brand but this is what I am comfortable with), for an 1150 socket.

These are the parts I have selected so far.

CPU: Intel i5-4460

GPU: ASUS GTX760 (DC2OC 2GBD5)

RAM: 2x4GB DDR3-1600 CL11 from GeIL

PSU: Chieftec IArena GPA-450B8 (450W)

MOBO: gigabyte G1.sniper H6

And I already use a Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD as a bootdrive.

I've already got the GPU and the power supply installed in my current rig, so changing that is no real option. And I would like to be able to upgrade this system (one part at the time) in the future, so:

1. Should I get a K or X version of a CPU for overclocking in the future?

2. What model is recommended compared to my other components?

Keep in mind that I am on a budget, and I'd like to stay close to the price of the i5-4460.

What is your overall budget for the build? For the price, you can't get anything better than the 4460

Thank you,

I think I can stretch my budget this far, I will also look into a Z97 motherboard.

You have been really helpful.
