So my girlfriends PC is shutting it self off then turning back on after about 5 seconds.  So far I've tested another PSU and had the board replaced.  I just swapped out the ram from my PC.  Any other idea's?  Everything is running stock and the specs are below:

Intel Core I5-2500K

EVGA Z75 SLI Board

1x8GB DDR3 Ram

Asus GTX 770 2GB GDDR5

EVGA 500W 80+ Certified PSU

NZXT S340 Case

Muskin 240GB SSD

1TB HDD

Windows 8.1 Pro 64 Bit

I tried an EVGA 600B as well and had EVGA replace the board.  Sadly, I am thinking it might be the processor.

UPDATE:

I've RMA'ed the board

Tried other working memory

Moved to a different station

Tried an I3-2100 CPU

No overheating

Removed battery backup

I'd clear the CMOS and remove any CPU overlocks. Does it shut down 5 seconds after going into the OS or right after you turn her... err... I mean it on?

Brand new replacement board from EVGA, I am using the default settings.  It was turning off while browsing.

why not try it without GPU first?

GPU cannot cause a system to lose power, but that will be my next step.

Did you check your temps ? You can use HWMonitor or Speccy to do it.

Nope, temps were well within threshold.  CPU was around 38*C and GPU was around 30*C.

Did you test the wall oulet ? Or try to plug your rig somewhere else just to be sure it's not an issue with the wall outlet since you've changed the PSU and you still have the same problem.

We are running 2 systems off of 1 surge protector which is running top a back up battery then to the wall.  My system is on with no issue.  We had it power off with my system off.

NVIDIA recommandation for the PSU is 600W for a GTX 770 and you have a 500W in this build, it could be the problem.

Check here on NVIDIA website : http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-770/specifications

No because when measuring it's max output I barely cracked 325W from the wall and I used a 600W PSU from EVGA already with the same issue.  Most of the shutting down is happening when it's not under load.

You can try :

1-Run a CPU stress test like Prime95 or HeavyLoad.

2-Check if there's no issue with your SSD (you can use Speccy to check S.M.A.R.T).

3-Try to reinstall the OS to be sure it's not a software problem.

It ran fine when I first tested it.  But after running AIDA64 on the old board it turned off within 3 minutes.  I'll look into Speccy, but if it was an OS issue a full power off would not be the issue but I will explore that option.

So here is an update.  Upon swapping a ram stick out of my PC her PC is now having the same issue mine does.  Mine likes to turn itself on randomly, even without the front power button plugged in.  Hers have never done it until I put one of my sticks in.  Maybe I figured out my issue lol.

So I ordered a new board & CPU.  Tried moving the PC to my station, tried new memory, different PSU as well.  It HAS to be either the board or CPU.

swap the PSU and see if it does it again

also revert back to stock clocks

Bump

updated list of things I've tried.  I ordered a 4690K and a Gaming 5 board but I hope that fixes the issue.

Overheat?

Nope, I ran Prime 95 from 4pm-11:30pm EST with the I3-2100 and it never shut off.  It did fully lose power during boot up after I put the I3 in, but this power off is SOOOO random...

i will still say the PSU may be a fault here

I put in an evga 600b and it did the same thing. That 600b is in another PC that I sold a month ago.

it very weird the CPU may cause shutdowns

very rare cases the CPU will just go kaput unless you overvolt it too much

Well when I remounted the board with better screws the I3 never caused a shutdown.  I had the I5-2500K @ 4.2GHz with roughly 1.28V for a few weeks then the issues started.  I just got the new I5-4690K and MSI Gaming 5 board in and ran an 8 hour Prime 95 of 4.2GHz @ 1.2V with cache ratio at 39, cache voltage at 1.175V.  Max temp was 79*C over night and no issues so far.
