Monitor shuts off randomly.

JebKerman

I've been using a monitor for a while now (must be at least 5 years now), and it has seen 2 PC upgrades. (receiving an output from, I believe it was an HD6450, then a 260X, and now a 970)

But since about a year ago, It's developed an issue where it will randomly stop displaying, and requires the PC to restart to get it working again.

For a split second before shutting off it often displays jagged blobs of yellow and blue. And by shut off, the pixels seem to stop displaying, whereas the back-light still appears to be on.

Anyone know any potential fixes? Or is the monitor just past it's prime, and it's some for a newer, better one?

Edit: Additionally in the event that I do get a new monitor, how much should I really spend on one,

I'm assuming it's time to look at new monitor. :(
