After looking around the interwebs for a few months I decided I wanted a blue yeti for gaming and streaming.  Since the first time I plunged it in, I've had this very annoying back ground noise. I've tried plunging it into my brothers computer and even a lot top and still the noise.  Doesn't matter how close or far it is from the computer, the noise is still there so its not fans.  I didn't see anything about this problem before i bought it but now that i googled it I see that it is common. I don't know what else to try and need help!

Sounds like the problem is that you "plunged it into" your brother's computer.  :P

Seriously though, it sounds like it's picking up background noise, probably from vibrations (from your computer). It may help to change the input method to cardiod as well, and use a shock mount if the hum is still present.

sounds like a dirty power supply.

this is the reason I like dac/adc/amps with dedicated power supplies and not just usb power.

Will work for electronic components and parts

It could be vibrations passing to the mic, put it something soft or just hold it in the air and see if the sound is still there!

Still makes noise in the air or on the carpet. I only run it on cardioid with the gain all the way down. How can it be my power supply if it does the same thing on another computer and a laptop. I would say the noise is a hum

Make sure the gain is as low as possible and keep the mic close to your mouth. Set it as cardiod mode so it only records in front of the mic and make sure the fan isn't facing that direction or near it.
