Hi Experts,

Here's what I have:

SSD 256gb OS Drive Win7 64bit

Raid 1 Mirror (2x 600gb HDD)

Asus P8P67 Evo

So what I'm trying to do:

Break my existing HDD Raid so I can use the drives individually but I/m not sure what to set the sata controller mode to.

See image (Stock photo, not my drives).

My issues are:

1) SSD OS Drive & HDD Raid Array are all universally set in the bios "sata mode" to "Raid mode" not "AHCI mode". To be clear, the SSD is not part of the RAID array. It's only tethered to it through the bios "sata mode" setting for all the sata ports which the 2x HDDs & SSD are connected.

So, If I break the HDD Raid outside of the bios (by going into the raid config pre-bios by pressing Ctrl-I) afterwards do I then want to change the sata mode in the bios to AHCI? If so, does that mess up the SSD OS Drive as it was part of the bios' RAID sata mode setting?

I would think I just break the array and set the controller to AHCI....but will that mess up the attached SSD OS drive?

2) Once I break the array how should I set up the HDD drives in Windows7?....Initialize, format settings etc.

Thanks All :)
