I thought that building my PC with the AMD FX 6300 that has 6 cores and is on 3.5Ghz . then i could upgrade to the best CPU that is now out with the same mobo ( AM3+ socket ).

Then a guy told me that i3 is better for gaming ( the PC i want to build its mainly for gaming ). The upgrade on the same socket ( LGA1150 ) is i think the intel core i7 5690x 8-core.

And here is the question..

Which upgrade is better the AMD FX-8370 8-core or the Intel Core i7-5960X 8-core ?

Maybe the CPUs i cjose for upgrade are not the best i could chose, but.... Which should i go for ?

plz reply by saying the CPU i should go now .. ( AMD FX 6300 or i3 ) and then which upgrade should i go for.

Just get a quad-core i5 4690. It will demolish that FX8370 in most games.

Holy crap, comparing those two is like comparing a peasant and a KING.(Justin Bieber to Beck)

Even if they have the same number of cores the 5960X is miles away in terms of PER core performance. The AMD FX lineup is much more suitable for people who wan't to edit videos with a tight budget, since more cores helps in rendering. Your friend is not entirely correct an i3 and a 6300 have pretty much the same performance.

So if you have the budget for a 8-core FX and you're just going to play games on it might as well get an i5

for now definitely get an i3 then upgrade to an i5

The i3 uses the socket 1150. (i3-4xxx, i5-4xxx, i7-4xxx)
The 5th gen i7s are using 2011-3. (i7-5820k, i7-5930k, i7-5960x)

On 1150 you can only run i3, i5, and i7s of the 4th gen, so for example the i5-4690k, which would be a great choice for gaming.

I'm not sure tho, if I would go from a FX-6300 to an i3...

AMD's CPU's aren't shit it's just not the CPU that's best suited for your needs.
