What is the best way to clean some dirty keycaps?

they need a good cleaning

I have already taken off my keycaps off my keyboard and thrown them in a box filled with water and soap to clean them :P

The printing or whatever has not washed off (even after doing this 3 times) and they get pretty clean.

Not sure if this works with all keycaps or if your printing will stay on
