How does the Apple watch update its software?

I've searched everywhere for this answer but can't find it. I'm making the assumption that you download Apple watch software to the iPhone, then Bluetooth it over. But I can't find confirmation anywhere.

I would guess it would be pushed from the phone over bluetooth. That makes the most sense to me.

Indeed. Strange that no reviewer or Apple rep mentioned it. My only concern is the very small amount of memory the Apple Watch has. As anybody with a low capacity iPhone can tell you, Apple's software update installers can be rather large. Not that I'm expecting the Apple watch OS to be huge. Come to think about it, does the Apple watch OS have a name? I know WatchKit is the dev tool, but I'm assuming it's not iOS.

yeah thats very true. The storage is very limited on the watch. Probably because apple wants it to become obsolete eventually :P .

Well I ordered myself a steel one with the Melanese loop (within 10 mins of preorder so I get delivery within first week) . My thinking being, if it's amazing and I like it, I wanted a steel one with sapphire glass, but if I hate it, it's going to keep its whole value for at least a month or two, by which time I will know if I want to keep it or not. If not. I'll stick it on eBay.

It does have what appears to be 2 ports on one side, so maybe via USB? You can see what I am talking about here there's no info on the Apple website which is rather annoying. I don't know much about it tbh, I don't even know how you charge the damn thing.

No these ports have been confirmed as being Apple only Dev ports. They were blocked up on review units and I'm sure Apple confirmed they won't be accessible to consumers. There is no physical port and I'm pretty sure the MagSafe connector can't carry data.

May have just answered my own question. From this screenshot from one of the reviewers who has the Apple Watch. It was clearly a software update option in the menu. Still, it will be interesting to see how the procedure works considering that Apple have already announced there will be a day one patch to try and solve some of the review issues such as laggyness.

It would be pushed to the watch. I have a pair of zik parrot head phones and that's how they get updates. As for size I doubt it will be a problem.

IIRC, the Apple Watch has 8GB of storage. If my Moto 360 is anything to go by, that's more than enough for apps.
