So i just recently hooked up a new 5.1 system to my pc. It came with very vague directions, basically just plug everything in and it will work. Only thing is i think the remote that came with it just doesn't wanna work for whatever reason. But in order to adjust the bass and stuff on the system i need the remote. So, I am trying to find something that will work with it just enough to adjust some of the levels. I tried doing it with the EQ for my on-board audio of my motherboard but it really doesn't change the sound all that much. It still sounds pretty flat no matter what.

then just try any universal HT remote from a local electronics store

if its doesnt work then return it, and there probably isnt anything else that will work since system is not a large brand like sony or yamaha or onkyo or anything like that

Okay, so what if i get a dedicated sound card? I was reading that if you are going with a 5.1 system you should get a decent sound card to pair it with. And it said that the card would eliminate the need for a separate reciever?

it looks like you need individual inputs for that sound system

so if your motherboard has 5.1 audio you just need a few more 3.5mm to RCA cables to plug in the surround and center speakers

no need for a sound card

and idk who said anything about a receiver...you dont need a receiver unless youre using unpowered speakers

So my board has up to 7.1, it has two 3.5mm out ports on the back so should i just get another 3.5 to RCA Cable? The system only came with one.

The Gigabyte GA-Z97x Gaming 7

it has 5 3.5mm jacks on the back, not two

GA-Z97X-GAMING-7-ftr.jpg

one of them is mic in

one is L+R out

one is surround L+R out

one is center+sub out

and the last is either line in or rear L+R out, cant tell cause theyre not colour coded

you basically need to look in the manual, and using THREE 3.5mm to RCA audio cables connect L+R, surround L+R, and center+sub out to the inputs on the audio system
