Hi, I went to shut down my computer and I got the error

nvbackend.exe - Application Error. The instruction at "0xXXXXXXXX" referenced memory at "0xXXXXXXXX". The Memory Could Not Be "read / written." Click on OK to terminate the program.

I clicked ok and the computer shut down and all seems to be working but I have I termimated a program that was supposed to be doing something??

Thanks!

I don't like 2D games...I just couldn't get into them.. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

nvidia backend. it's a process.

you should update your nvidia drivers or roll back to the previous ones.

We can't Benchmark like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to shove more GPUs in your computer. Like the time I needed to NV-Link, because I needed a higher HeavenBench score, so I did an SLI, which is what they called NV-Link back in the day. So, I decided to put two GPUs in my computer, which was the style at the time. Now, to add another GPU to your computer, costs a new PSU. Now in those days PSUs said OCZ on them, "Gimme 750W OCZs for an SLI" you'd say. Now where were we? Oh yeah, the important thing was that I had two GPUs in my rig, which was the style at the time! They didn't have RGB PSUs at the time, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big green ones.

yes, that's a BSOD error when shutting down.

Thats like one code that I have never heard of up to now! Normally I know ALOT of the BSOD codes, guess that proves you cannot know everything about something

it occurs when the system doesnt have a code. in this case the nv.backend.exe causes a driver failure upon shutdown, which is read like the hardware got yanked, but because it isn't a driver native to windows it produces the " ugh ugh ugh, umm, error uhhh,... 0xXXXXXX! I don't fucking know! what did you just do to me?" error.

happens when you yank WLAN cards out of laptops sometimes too. just saying...

Yeah, guess that what sounds weird to me! Its not a windows code is it? Maybe his card was not installed properly cause that would cause a BSOD without a windows error code (0x00000000???)

it's possible the card is installed loosely.

OP can just reinstall the card and check le drivers, then everythign will be hunky dorry.
