Hey guys, I just swapped out my older motherboard and installed an M5A99FX PRO R2.0. When I tried to boot it up, all the fans spin up, but I get 2 error lights from the CPU and the DRAM and nothing is displayed on the monitor, the monitor doesn't even wake up from sleep. I also have a keyboard that lights up and it doesn't light up like it normally does when power the system on. I really don't know why this is happening because the system worked perfectly on the other motherboard. Is it because I have to do a fresh install of windows or something? Thanks in advance for your help!

Here are my system specs:

FX 8320

M5A99FX PRO R2.0

8 GB Kingson HyperX RAM

R9 280

Hyper 212 EVO

128 GB SSD

1 TB HDD

500W PSU

You should uninstall the previous motherboards drivers before installing the new one. In some cases, a clean install will be needed.

So how do I do that because I can't even get into the BIOS? Do I pop the drive into another computer or something?

do you still have the old motherboard? If so i would plug that back in and do it that way. Though if you can get into the bios, it may not actually be a problem with the os. You can try resetting the bios by using the cmos clear jumper on your motherboard and see if it works after that. if not, if you motherboard has a dual bios switch, switch that.

I'm still getting those errors on the CPU and RAM. I don't think the drivers have anything to do with it.

Have you tried plugging everything back in to your old mobo and seeing iffeverything works?

I actually just figured it out. It was a bad memory module. Now I have to return it and get a replacement....I wish the RMA form was a little easier for Kingston...
