buying windows 8.1 key

I have recently installed windows 8.1 with my windows disc and need a activation key for his laptop. where should he buy just the key from? any recommended places to purchase these keys from? And has anyone ran into any problems doing this method?

Windows 8 disc will not even let you install without the product key. What was the original OS that came with the laptop?

I used a code from online to by-pass using my key.. So now it's build 8.1 pro, so basically you just need the key for windows activation

So you added that file into the sources folder then? The other way is to use one of the MS generic keys for install and then use your key for activation.
