I would say a single 980 may struggle to keep it constant 60, 970 SLI would be fine to keep it above 60 aslong as the game supports SLI well, if not go for a 980 SLI if you can afford it

Yeah they are acctually pretty cheap for what you get now! Overclockers had one for £599 the other day, probs as good as a 970 SLI or even 980 SLI without all of the SLI issues, +1

They are pretty unique cards alright! :D That deal is great, I think it even comes with a warranty, albeit a shortened one. Anyhow Do consider it!

Aslong as you have the room for the 120mm rad, in push pull for best cooling! I am proud to say that if anyone wants to give one away then i can make a good home for it in my H440

Not sure my RM650 could handle that! And I wish I had the money mate but next GPU will be a 970 more then likely or a 980!

Ahhh well :P A pair of either of those will certainly do great at 1440p!

Enjoy :)

Im not the one who made this thread you know! I run at 1080p case I dont see a point in 1440p I would go straight for 4k! ;')

Whoops! :P apologies! I got too carried away. I'd love to give 1440p a god, but i think that with this new generation 1440p may become easy enough to drive and be affordable. I'v heard many a claim that says its quite nice.  Not that i wouldn't take 4k if it came my way :P

Yeah I cannot deny that this is a sticky situation, one thing im also thinking of is just get a single 980 and wait for the new generation and just play 1080 with a 1440p display, it might cause some problems i guess but it's something i am consdering quite allot since as ive read and heard and seen 4k is just way above a reasonable price for a rig even though im spending more than average on my new rig anyway.

A single 980 will most likely last me until next year adn then get something new if Nvidia or AMD has something that can drive either 1440p at 120frames or resoutions above that.

It's a very weird situation indeed. 6 years ago 1080 wasnt the standard but now it is.

Feels like a single 980 would be best. Due to the fact that the memory problems on a 970 kinda defeats the point in buying two of them?
