Has eveyone made a computer in a Fish Talk?

Neymar

I hear that they are very hard to maintain. Everytime a component needs to be changed, it requires removing all the oil from the tank. Also the oil is extremely expensive. Slick had one!

It's not a very good idea if you are lazy (what i heard).

I think Linus have video about Slick's Oil fish tank PC.

The oil actually slowly creeps up the cable and make it easy to break.

Slick would say "NO NONONONONONONONONONONONONO"

I would like to try full immersion but mineral oil isn't really good enough as a coolant and the alternatives like Fluorinert cost LOTS

I've done it much the same way that slick did and he copied these guys.

http://www.pugetsystems.com/submerged.php

Not worth the money.

Not worth the time.

Water is much more efficient.

Water is less messy if done correctly.

Water already has a whole industry behind its use.

It takes much less water to cool the same components because it is contained in a loop.

Oil looks much cooler.

Oil, if cared for, will not degrade as much over time as water.

Oil cannot short out your components.

Oil is used in a submersion.

Oil will creep up your components and follow your wires and hoses and drip at low spots.

If you do choose to try oil only use veterinarian grade mineral oil.  This will not spoil as it has no nutrient for mold to grow.

My system died because the fish tank cracked due to the stress of taking components out multiple times for testing.

Laws only govern the honest.

Personally I like Oil-Cooled PC because they look so awesome and there is the bragging right but it is hard to maintain and even harder to upgrade if you like to upgrade a  computer. That is just my personal view about it.
