Best firmware for AC68U - DD-WRT/Tomato/OpenWRT/Merlin

X1XNobleX1X

Hello LTT,

I'm having some issues with my router, where when plugged in, it decreases my internet speed from 100 to 30-40 mbps. Not sure what the problem is, has anyone had any experience with these firmwares?

Or even if anyone has a fix for this issue?

I have not decided yet which one I like best. Also, I am waiting for an ARM version of pfsense ^^

Give Merlin a try (google: asus merlin), otherwise have a look at tomato and dd-wrt.

But as Merlin put it in 2014, still pretty much true, "I offer performance. DD-WRT offers features. Tomato offers a mix of both."

After 'some' back and forth, I found Tomato to be the best in my case. But there is a lot more opinions on that than choices, obviously ;)

Also, have a look at the cable, try a different one, and at least cat 5e. Otherwise, need more info on setup and the like from you.
