Hi guys,

I am planning to upgrade my really old system (around 4-5 years).

I mostly use this for Gaming and 3D modeling.

Following are the upgrades that I am thinking about.

Not sure about motherboard, might go for ASUS.

Also in future (may be 6-12 months time) planning for another upgrade to following. (4K Gaming)

All suggestions are welcome. Thanks.  :D

A solid list, though with 970 SLI in 4k resolutions you'd be one of the very few to run into the infamous 3.5gb issues

The reason for 970 SLI is due to it almost similar to R9 295 X2 @ 4K

At those resolutions and with modern games you'll easily get beyond the 3.5gb for video memory and run into the slower part issues. I usually do not mention this but in this very specific case of using a 4k monitor and SLI 970s it WILL be an issue.

Everything looks fantastic, except for the PSU. That's wayy too high for just a 2-way SLI setup. Save your money, aim for 600-700W if you're maxing out at 2 cards. (Which is what I highly recommend, 3-way isn't that great of an idea, and I personally forbid 4-way, as that just sucks.)

Follow the topics you create using the "Follow" button in the top right corner!

One day I will have my GTX 970. One day. PC specs are at my profile.

Not sure how to check what part works with what? Check out my compatibility guide!

Wait for the 300 series to come out.970 sli for 4k is not recommended many games like shadow of mordor, far cry 4 already eat up 3.5+ gb of vram at lower res.

Agreed. 1000w for just two Maxwell cards is plenty overkill

One 980 won't be enough for 4K gaming at 60FPS
