Which model of the GTX 970 do you suggest that I get?

 

I'm pretty happy with my Zotac 970, but I think I'd rather recommend G1 or Asus STRIX. From what I've heard, those seem to be really solid choices and generally well-received.

Either way, I think you're going to regret buying a 960 in the close future, I really recommend just saving up or cut cost some other places for a 970.

 

The 3.5 VRAM thing isn't really a significant problem at the moment. I've only hear it starts being a bottleneck at Shadow of Mordor with ultra textures and heavily modded Skyrim. Generally you won't even reach the limit, at least at 1080p.

Hi. I am trying to put together a gaming PC and I am wanting to know if I should spend more on a GTX 970 or instead go for a GTX 960. I want to play Arma 3, Minecraft, Battlefield 4, and games of that sort. I am planning on getting a i5-4690K and the motherboard is a Asus Z97-A. Please help me with this as I've not had any help yet. Thanks!

Get a 970,  but if you want to cheap out get a 4GB 960.

Don't buy a GTX 980, it's overpriced! Buy 2 GTX 970s or 2 R9 290s intstead (the R9 290s would even be cheaper)

I'd recommend going for the GTX 970.

The 2GB VRAM of the 960 could become a problem soon and the 4GB edition is kinda wasted since the card generally doesn't have the power to use that much, if I'm mistaken.

 

That CPU would also be wasted on a 960 in my opinion. I have a i5 4460 with the 970 and can run Far Cry 4 in 1080p on ultra with 60+ fps.

Go for the 970, if you can't afford that go for the fastest amd gpu you can afford. I would not recommend the 960 as you can get way faster gpu's with amd for the same price. You can also look at the r9 290.
