Need Feedback on a New Build

Hey Guys,

I'm building a new computer that I plan on buying in a month from now. I would need some feedback on what I should change or what's wrong with my build. My budget is around 2000$ with the monitor included.

CPU: Intel Core i5 4690K

GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 960 Superclocked ACX 2.0 + 4GB GDDR5

Motherboard: ASUS Z97-PRO (Wi-Fi AC)

SSD: Sandisk Extreme Pro 240gb or Samsung 850 Pro 256gb

Hard Drive HDD: Western Digital Black 1TB

Power Supply: Corsair Professional Series Modular HX850 or Corsair HX850i

DVD Player/Burner: LG (WH16NS40)

Liquid CPU Cooler: Corsair Hydro Series H80i GT or Corsair Hydro Series H100i --- Which fan would be the best for this Liquid CPU Cooler

Fans: Corsair Air Series AF140 or Corsair Air Series AF120 Depends what I need for the case

Monitor: BenQ RL2455HM 60hz or BENQ XL2411Z 144hz

Case: Corsair Carbide Series SPEC-02 Red LED or Corsair Carbide Series 400R Mid Tower Case

So if you guys have any suggestions or anything to say about my new build, feel free to leave a comment.

Thanks,

Alex ;)

Dude, get a 970 or a 280x but why have your budget 2000 and get a card mean't for 700 - 1000 builds?

The time you enjoy wasting, is not wasted time.

Way overkill PSU. 500W would be plenty

If you were referring to me, I am not sure, but corsair's 550w fully modular PSU is $15 more than their 650w fully modular PSU. After a promo and a mail in rebate.

Although I SWEAR by the H100i, you should save that money and invest it ins a 212Evo and a better GPU. As far as SSD goes, I'm not here to judge your usage, but all my builds get by fine with a 120gb, and then you have more $$ left. Watch Linus's (or rather Luke's) vid on aftermarket PC cooling. Not sure if its on Youtube yet, its on vessel though

I'm buying this computer for gaming and normal day use. Yes I live in Canada and the GTX 970 would be my choice but was a bit expansive. If you guys are saying I could get a cheaper and less powerful PSU and get something different for CPU liquid cooling I could maybe go for the GTX 970. For the size of the SSD I need 250gb. For the motherboard is it that much overkill? If you guys have better monitor and cheaper that does 120hz I'm open. Really looking for comments on my build, what should I change if it too overkill or if I should change a part to not have a bottleneck. The price is more expansive in Canada for most of the stuff too.

I would agree with this - very good choices on most parts; the only thing I would disagree with is the hard drive. I was considering buying that one for a while, but then I read its reviews on newegg and they aren't very good, so for data security I would recommend getting a better reviewed hard drive, maybe a 1TB but higher quality one from WD.

Edit - just noticed this person is in Canada so prices will be higher. Some suggestions I would make for price cutting would be:

1) less expensive CPU cooler (212 evo maybe)

2) 8GB of RAM (it is for just normal use, after all)

3) Cheaper motherboard (someone above mentioned the MSI Krait, that one looks great and is cheaper)

4) cheaper case, possibly (my favorite cheap case is the S340)

Pro Tip: don't use flash when taking pictures of your build; use a longer exposure instead. Prop up your camera with something (preferably a tripod) if necessary.

if you use retarded/autistic/etc to mean stupid please gtfo

In my computer that I have right now I have a 212 Evo for my CPU cooler but I wanted to get a quieter computer than what I have right now. I know you still need fan for a Liquid Cooler and i will still have my GPU fan + 2-3 fans in the case. With all those parts, with a i7 a 650 watts PSU instead of 850 watts and a GTX 970 I still arrive over 2000$. I looked at the MSI Krait and I would probably want to go with something better. I said normal use but most of the time its for gaming. For the SSD i tough a Sandisk Extreme Pro 240gb or a Samsung 850 Pro 256gb as better than a MX100 512gb.

CPU: Intel Core i7 4790K --- 425$
GPU:EVGA GeForce GTX 970 4GB GDDR5 SSC ACX Cooler 2.0 --- 460$
Motherboard: ASUS Z97-PRO (Wi-Fi AC) --- 255$
SSD: Samsung 850 Pro 256gb --- 209$
Hard Drive HDD: Western Digital Black 1TB --- 95$
Power Supply: Corsair Professional Series Modular HX650 80PLUS Gold Certified 650W PSU --- 139$
DVD Player/Burner: LG (WH16NS40) --- 75$
Liquid CPU Cooler: Corsair Hydro Series H100i --- 140$
Fans: Corsair Air Series AF140 --- 20$
Monitor: BENQ XL2411Z 144hz --- 300$
Case: Corsair Carbide Series SPEC-02 Red LED (might change) --- 75$

Total --- 2290$ Before Tax (Canadian Money)

I just changed some stuff and that build here would be the closest to my 2000$ budget. I will try to find a cheaper Motherboard and I will check for the case. The SSD I'm not sure between Sandisk Extreme Pro or the Samsung 850 Evo. I changed my Corsair H100i liquid cooler for the 212 Evo, maybe later i will get a liquid cooler. Just need to get quiet fan if anyone have suggestions.

CPU: Intel Core i7 4790K --- 425$
GPU:EVGA GeForce GTX 970 4GB GDDR5 SSC ACX Cooler 2.0 --- 460$
Motherboard: ASUS Z97-PRO (Wi-Fi AC) (Will try to get one a bit cheaper) --- 255$
SSD: Sandisk Extreme Pro --- 179$
Hard Drive HDD: Western Digital Blue instead of Black 1TB --- 65$
Power Supply: Corsair Professional Series Modular HX650 80PLUS Gold Certified 650W PSU --- 139$
DVD Player/Burner: ASUS (DRW-24F1ST/BLK/B) --- 20$
Liquid CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO --- 45$
