I have a FX 8350 , a asrock 970 Pro3 motherboard, and planning to get either a second hand r9 290 or upcoming 300 series.

I need a budget PSU that can run the those GPU's while also the CPU is overclocked. My own ideas are :

Sirtec - High Power Element Smart 750W
ZALMAN 700W, ZM700-LX, 14CM FAN

I like the Zalman more cuz its cheaper, but is it worth it and does it have enough power for what I want? Also are there cheaper PSU's that'll do the trick?

Bonus questions: Is the PCI express 2.0 16x anywhere close to the limit as in bottlenecking something like a Titan X for example? Would my CPU bottleneck a Titan X ? Based on what u know so far, will the FX 8350 benefit from the DX12 multi threads thingy?

+1 on not cheaping out, that said you don't have to go overkill either. All the above are good suggestions.

Whatever your looking at, try find a professional review of it (jonny guru is great) to see if it's a good model, everyone can make garbage regardless of reputation.

@Tiber1337

How much do you want to spend on your PSU? I have had great experience with Corsair so far and many others recommend it as well. Even though it will cost you about $100, I would advise going for the CX750. A reliable PSU at a reasonable price point.

The PSU is the first part to fail on the computer. Don't skimp out on a PSU regardless. Get enough wattage for upgradeability and it'll be quieter when you use it now.

Hope this helps :D

Any 750W PSU from a trusted brand like Corsair, EVGA, Seasonic will do. Just pick the one that is cheapest in your region.

Well the Sirtec I posted above is 75$ in my country, I was hoping to aim for something where I don't pay for the name brand, I don't have lots of money

The Highpower Element Smart 750w is the platform that this NZXT Hale82 V2 700w: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/NZXT/HALE82-700-V2/

It really isn't a great PSU.

Can you provide a link to the store you are going to buy from? As well as your budget in your country's currency.

Any 650W or above PSU from a reputable brand will be more than sufficient eg the antec tpc650 or an evga 750b

CPU-i5 4690k 4.4ghz @ 1.190V, MOBO-MSI z97 gaming 3, Cooler-hyper 212 evo, GPU- r9 290x asus directcuII (-37Mv), Storage-120gb v300(switching soon), 1tb caviar blue, CASE-Red/black h440, PSU-Antec TPC 650.

Don't ever cheap out on a PSU, as it has the potential to destroy your entire system.

Try to get something from EVGA, XFX, Seasonic, Antec, or Corsair AX series.

Can the PSU really burn all my system? I heard of PSU's breaking, or popping, but I didn't hear any stories about destroying the whole system, is this valid for newer psu's?

Sorry for the delay in my response. That's an FSP Hyper unit. Since it's an 230v only PSU, I don't have much info on it on top of my head. I do know it's an entry level, group-regulated design with the usage of CapXon capacitors. It shouldn't be all too great, but it shouldn't have a problem with powering a system that will draw less than ~350wDC under gaming conditions. It's cheaper here, btw: http://www.evomag.ro/COMPONENTE-PC-Surse/Antec-Sursa-Antec-VP-Series-700W-405696.html?utm_source=price-ro

I would get this unit instead though: http://www.evomag.ro/COMPONENTE-PC-Surse/Super-Flower-Sursa-Super-Flower-Golden-Green-HX-Series-SF-600P14XEHX-600W-106761.html?utm_source=price-ro

It's a better build, better performing unit.

I want to leave the option for crossfire open if DX12 will bring bigger benefits to it and will lessen the amd cpu bottlenecks, that's why I'm not looking to go under 700w.

Also I'm building a second hand rig, I got my fx8350, intel 530 SSD 120gb ,asrock 970 Pro3 r2 + cheap case and psu , all for 220$. I wouldn't want to spend 100 for the PSU alone :). I'll keep looking for deals, its not urgent, your help is much appreciated!

Yea the 8350 bottlenecks the heck out of a Titan X. Good choices on PSU though. Would recommend http://www.ncixus.com/products/?usaffiliateid=1000031504&sku=97531&vpn=110-B2-0750-VR&manufacture=eVGA&promoid=1424

CPU: INTEL Core i7 4790k @ 4.7Ghz - Cooling: NZXT Kraken X61 - Mobo: Gigabyte Z97X SLI - RAM: 16GB G.Skill Ares 2400mhz - GPU: AMD Sapphire Nitro R9 Fury 4G - Case: Phanteks P350X - PSU: EVGA 750GQ - Storage: WD Black 1TB - Fans: 2x Noctua NF-P14s (Push) / 2x Corsair AF140 (Pull) / 3x Corsair AF120 (Exhaust) - Keyboard: Corsair K70 Cherry MX Red - Mouse: Razer Deathadder Chroma

Bit of an AMD fan I suppose. I don't bias my replies to anything however, I just prefer AMD and their products. Buy whatever the H*CK you want.
