Is this right?

AarinSaunders

Hello, iv been using a 60GB ssd as a C drive for a while now, and recently I have ran out of space  :(. I never use the drive to install large programs or media. When I first installed windows 8 I had about 20GB left. If you wound not mind helping me out by looking at the picture below and tell me what isn't necessary. Thank You33o1cep.jpg

Well if you delete System32 it would give you 3.5GB, might be worth it.

Really, you're only going to be able to store windows on a 60GB ssd and a few key programs that you use a lot like chrome.

All other programs should be stored in a separate drive.

In a 60gb ssd you shouldn't be installing things on it apart from windows, you should move the microsoft office, the sony vegas and the chrome to your hard drive

  1. uncheck the “Automatically manage paging file size for all drives” setting (Win 7).

click on the drive you want to move pagefile.sys to.

click on System Managed Size.

click Set.

click on the drive currently holding pagefile.sys (probably C:)

click on No paging file.

click Set.

click on OK.

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

Hibernation, system restore, and the page file are clear targets.

  • Move the page file to another drive or disable it (not much software depends on it anymore).
  • System restore might be handy in rare cases but I personally don't think it warrants the extra disk space.
  • You can also disable hibernation if you don't use it to free up another 6.3 GB.

Disable hibernation.

  1. Run command prompt as administrator.
  2. Enter "powercfg.exe /hibernate off"
  3. You should notice the huge hiberfil.sys file is gone.
