Hello, I was going to purchase a gtx 770 because I am a Nvidia fan-boy.  But I was looking at the 7970 and it is cheaper with similar performance.  Which would you recommend I get? And could you tell me this card is a reference design?

Thank you.

7970 has more memory bandwidth and would be slightly more powerful if overclocked.

If you plan on going 2 cards later in the future get a 4gb 770 so if you get a second one in the future you will be able to utilize it.

The 7950 is also an option as it is significantly cheaper with performane close to a 7970.

The card you linked is not a bad option but I would recommend one with dual or triple fans. It is also reference design.

That is indeed the reference design so if you intend to water-cool that's the card to get.
I also would recommend a 7970 over a 770 for the aforementioned reasons, good performance, unlocked voltage, more memory & memory bandwidth.

7970 all the way, free games, same if not better performance and its cheaper so there is better bang for buck. The frame rating stuff should be sorted out sooner or later so xfire might be an option again.
