I think you are overestimating the FX's ability as a processor. I don't think the FX is limited purely by its poor single threaded performance.

 

As far as something like video rendering would go, I would absolutely expect to see the FX 6300 decimate its i3 price-point rivals. I wouldn't, however, expect it to go toe to toe with the 4690k. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's why I'm asking for verification.
