I recently found a fully functional radeon 6990 on craigslist for $30 USD. I dont really have a use for it because installing it in any of my systems wouldnt increase performance so I figured it would make a neat desk decoration. Any ideas on a stand or mods to test out on it etc?

That's not what Op asked. He wants ideas for a stand or ideas for mods to perform on the GPU. Never did he say he wanted to sell it.

Back on topic, For a stand I'd suggest metal rods bent into y-shapes to support the card and either acrylic or painted wood for the base. You could throw in a few LEDs or wire up the GPU fan to run off a battery and it would look awesome.

Still, then he has 70$, you can buy a decoration with that

Use it to dry your hair after a shower, dry your hands after you wash them, etc.

There's a lot of things you can buy with $70, but I doubt they will look nearly as cool.

That's a 280X, or a 770. Wow, that's a really good deal, buy it, put it in your system

One day I will have my GTX 970. One day. PC specs are at my profile.

Not sure how to check what part works with what? Check out my compatibility guide!

I have a fully functional 5870 Sitting on my shelf as we speak, decoration we call it  -_-

You can probably get a piece of plexi and use a heat gun to bend a nice stand of it if you want or get a display stand on Amazon for very little.
