5820k 4.5GHz @ 1.3v - Safe or not?

So while I've been into PCs for a long time, I've only recently got my hands on my first unlocked processor, the 5820k. Thus I will shamelessly admit: this is my first overclock.

I've got it stable at 4.5GHz @1.3v. Stressed with Aida64 for three hours and all was good. Temps were around ~58 degrees C.

I've heard though from some (ASUS JJ, and through research) that 1.3 is really the max you'd want to go for on Haswell-E. Will running at that voltage decrease the lifespan of my cpu? Should I step down to 4.4 @ 1.275v ? Or even something more conservative?

Thanks in advance.

I'm above 1.3v on my 5820k. I run at 4.7GHz at 1.31v no issues.

1.3 volts is fine, but really any overclock will lower lifespan.

Sure, if the temps are fine (and they are MORE than fine) it will probably outlast your motherboard.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Pushing frequencies below 1.25V won't do any harm, but pushing the voltage will decrease the lifespan for sure.

Its should be perfectly fine.

Can I ask what are you using to cool the CPU.? Those temps are awesome, mine are much worse with an H100i.

Mine won't post past 1.26v well I haven't had much time to fine tune so I am at 4.33 and it's doing fine.

But what temps arr you guys getting in general mine feel pretty high for water cooling!

37&60

By the way, any of you fine gentlemen willing to help me out withy my OC, I would like to make sure I did it right... Is my first time.

...an h100i with SP120's @ 1400 RPM while under load.

I was as surprised as you are. I was expecting ~75 degrees or so.

AS5 TIM, nothing special, and 4x NF-A14's for case fans, though I'm not sure how much that even affects CPU temp.

Haven't run a different stress test yet though, hopefully others will report the same. *knock on wood*

After messing around a bit, I've got it stable at 1.3v @ 4.5GHz, RAM is at 2800MHz

XMP gave me some troubles, as I didn't know it changed the CPU strap and BCLK. Never knew about calculating that stuff.

Watched Linus' ultimate X99 over-clocking guide and now I'm all straightened out.
