I got a several TN panel monitors with awful finger prints, moist rag isn't cleaning it?

HeyKitty

So I bought a bulk of these monitors: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA0AJ22G6148
off a second hand site for a steal. they are in good condition aside the fact a bajillion finger prints are on the screen.

Things I tried:

Dry cloth

Moist cloth + air dry.

wet cloth followed by a dry cloth.

what are some free/household ways of cleaning them without damaging?

When I used the water, there  was this white streaky stuff (get yo head outta gutta boi!), so I think there may be some type of matte/anti-glare stuff on them.

THIS IS MY SUPER TEENY TINY SIGNATURE!

Ain't it just the cutest little signature.

Some would argue it is the cutest little signature ever.

The best fingerprint removal I found was a towel moistened with hot water. Stripes left behind simply evaporate.

How hot?  Sounds stupid, but like to the touch hot, or hotter?

Hot water will evaporate and leave streaks, I suggest just water

I usually use window cleaner

paper cloth sprayed with window cleaner then wipe the screen

*** It is lightly sprayed, not soaked***

Works like a treat

That can damage the screen very easily

I dont recommend doing that on a computer screen or monitor/tv

Hot enough to make you uncomfortable touching it through the towel, for me it's basically as hot as my tap goes.

It shouldn't leave stripes as the towel should take all the dirt, leaving just traces of water that evaporate.

I ended up pulling out a micro-fiber cloth I use for my lenses and moisturized it... did the job.

FYI, a 5% vinegar solution does a decent job... white vinegar.  Drench a soft cloth and wring it out very well... very, very well... open the towel and air it a bit before too.  Wipe the screen then use a second dry cloth to finish.

Works great, I just cleaned both my monitors two nights ago.

Fingerprints contain oil. Polar solvents like water don't take oils off.

What I would suggest is Eye Glass cleaner specifically made for Anti-Reflective Glasses. The Anti reflective coatings on screens and eye glasses are similar, so using these should be safe.

Fingerprints contain oil.

All you need to know OP, so just take some eggs and cook using the oil.

A healthy breakfast and your screen has no more fingerprints.

I think museums offer quite a bit for those things

CRTs are great for composite gaming (old consoles). Composite looks like dog shite on flat screens.

Yeah have one in my living room, every time we find a tv on sale we like it is gone so my parents don't care enough since they have never seen better other than in stores.
