Thermal paste removal

How do you misspell that?

Anyways, why not just use simple isopropyl alcohol and a soft cloth such as an unused t-shirt.

So, I have gone through 3 coolers (On my fourth one right now), every time to clean the CPU die, I got some electronic screen cleaning wipes and wiped the old thermal residue out and got the new one applied.

But looking at the ingredients of my Fry's "XTREME XKLEAN", the ingredients were -

Water

1-Propoxypropan-2-ol

Carob Gum

Decyl Glucoside

Potassium Sorbate

Methyhlyparaben

Is this okay? It says the clean wipes are made for computer screens.

So should I keep going with this or something else?

If it is not okay, properly cleaning it will give me how much of a temperature boost?

EDIT: Thanks for all them replies!

Also thanks @Interfectorem for correcting my topic spelling :)

Those seem fine to me but isopropyl alcohol is the standard solvent to use since it will clean deeply into the pores of the metal to remove the thermal paste, but even if you use a barely damp towel with water it won't make a noticeable difference in temps.

Use a higher quality cloth with a little bit of isopropyl alcohol. (be careful with this, put a little bit on the cloth, don't pour it onto the CPU or cooler)

I use toilet paper to remove most of it and then more toilet paper with alcohol to clean it. Just be careful to not leave any residues if the paper is too soft!

Good for your butt is no good for your CPU.

I've always used Isopropyl alcohol personally. It evaporates quick and doesn't leave a residue. Most monitor wipes leave a film afterwards, and I imagine it would cause copper to tarnish pretty quick.

A cotton ball or swap and a quick dash of alcohol usually cleans up any but the most corroded copper slug.

Or the simplest way is to get medical alcohol swabs.  Cost is dirt cheap and extremely easy to get.

This is what I have used for the past many years. http://www.radioshack.com/arctic-silver-arcticlean-thermal-compound-remover/2760035.html#.VR3D2PnF_KI

I still have my original and it's probably been in my custody since 2009. I use it about once a month.
