Hi! I bought new RAM for my thinkpad r400, i had 3GB PC3-8500, DDR3 1066mhz work like a charm but i wanted more so i bought a 8gb kit 2x 4gb pc3-8500, ddr3 1066mhz from corsair so i took it apart and installed them, put it together and i got error beeps 1, 3, 3, 1 that is faulty ram so i tested with one new and one old that worked, tested with the other new one with the same old one, did not work so i thought i know which one is faulty so i put in the working one with the old one but his time it did not work (same slots) then i put back the old ones but it wont boot no error beeps. i did remove the battery and power cord while removing and inserting the ram.

When i power it on the "power on" led lights up, after a few seconds the Bluetooth led turns on and after like 10 minutes it boots into bios, do anyone know what is wrong?

Are you sure that the corsair ram is compatible with the board?

they are the same speed and of the same type so it should be, shouldn't it?

I took this information from support.lenovo.com

The thinkpad R400 only "supports up to 4GB maximum memory".

The 2x4GB are too much for it, IF you have a 32-bit operating system.

they never tested more 4 gb at that time, i have seen lots of users use 8gb in their r400. It wont boot with the old ram in, that's why i'm asking for help
