I am currently studying abroad my dorm room needs a router and I am in need for some extra storage. So a NAS came to mind. I'd like to be able to edit my photos straight of a network hard drive. So far googling seem to offer the wrt1900rt and r7500 as good options for this purpose.

Amazon has a refurbished wrt1900rt for 170 USD, but it seems that a lot of people report stability issues. And I am not sure I should take the risk importing without a chance to return it.

The r7500 seems to be on the pricey side but seems to offer what I need.

A x86 approach seems alluring but not sure is the effort worth it and getting it back home might be a inconvenient.

Any recommendations?
