So I have a very weird problem with my computer. I wanted to upgrade my RAM as 4GB was not enough. I bought a 2x 4GB HyperX Fury memory, and my computer didn't start . My computer would continue restarting , if I swapped the slots the monitor wouldn't get any signal . The closest to booting was when I saw the starting windows screen, but it was stuck there. So I returned that, and bought HyperX Salvage. Same 2x 4GB kit, thinking it would work. Same exact thing. Couple of months later, my PSU died. It was a horrible 400W psu, under the name of "Codegen" . Since then, I replaced my PSU with a Cooler Master B500 500W one. Now, I was actually thinking of trying to upgrade my ram once again, but I thought , maybe all of this was due to my weak PSU? Could that be the reason ?

My specs:

GTX 550Ti

I3-530

Cooler Master B500 500W PSU

1x 4GB Kingston DDR3 1333Mhz stick

It could have been your psu. To be honest, it could have been almost anything but seeing that your psu was from a shady dealer and died, it was most likey your PSU. What happened when you put your old RAM back? Would it work or would it fail similar to the upgraded RAM?

Would work perfectly fine. Looks like theres something called "Memory support list" on the motherboard page. Is there only certain memory supported for my motherboard?

it is the memory that they test. Most other memory should be fine, but when mobos are built, they test a whole bunch of memory with it and add it to their compatibility list. There is a small chance that it isnt compatible but it is unlikely as most RAM is standardized. I would be safe and stick to that compatibility list as it shouldnt cost any more than buying out of the list.

The memory support list is more recommended type. More important is to get the speed listed in compatibility page. So 2200/1600/1333/1066/800 MHz. If you would get something like 1866MHz or 2133MHz, not booting or boot loop might just be the problem you get.
