Hello!

I currently have a WD Black 1 TB HDD , and i like me PC to be less noisy. the HDD seems to be the most noisy part of my PC which is kind of annoying for me if anybody else doesn't mind it.

I came across the idea of getting an SSHD for my main storage and still leave the WD Black HDD for other stuff. So my question is are SSHD's less noisy than HDD's? And is it noticeable? Or should i just invest into an SSD.

Thank you!

240/256 GB SSD would be better if you have a HDD already, because you have the mass storage to back it up.

SSHDs still have a hard drive in them, but I haven't had any experience with them to say if they're quieter

Specs: CPU: AMD FX 6300 Motherboard: Gigabyte 970A DS3P RAM: HyperX Fury 16GB 1866MHz GPU: MSI R9 270 OC edition Case: Sharkoon VS3-S SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 120GB HDD: 1TB Caviar Blue PSU: Corsair CX500W

Looking up some of the online, they have around 8GB of NAND storage, so I would think that they'll make noise still. Isn't it just used as a cache or something.

If you want quiet mechanical drive get a WD Green, if you have spare money add like a 120 gb OS SSD. That way the drives will only spin when you're accessing your storage and not just browsing your computer. Hybrid hdssd's aren't that great in general.

This.

SSHDs use a small pool of nand for caching frequently accessed files.

It won't be any quieter in the long run, however it might be noticeably faster at times, although much slower than an actual SSD.

You could replace the HDD with an SSD, however you'd either have to be very conservative with what files you keep on the computer locally since your main problem with the HDD is noise and to get rid of the noise would be to get rid of the HDD entirely.
